General Maintenance / Re: AFTERMARKET FUEL PUMP?
« on: July 30, 2016, 02:00:27 pm »
I ordered the CA Cycleworks fuel pump and had the dealer install. They said it was a good fit. So will report back if something goes wrong.
Thanks.

General Maintenance / GPS WIRING HELP NEEDED
« on: July 30, 2016, 01:58:51 pm »
thanks for reading, I'm leaving tomorrow for the COBDR...

I'm considering wiring my GPS directly to the battery, which already has a cig lighter adapter wired directly to it as well.
(I realize I will need to remember to shut the GPS off every time I stop.)

I'm planning on using ring terminals to connect to the battery posts, on top of the ones that are already on there from the cig lighter adapter.

Does anybody have any advice on this? I have a new battery and am off on a two week trip. Will probably take it off when I get back, but don't want to short anything out, blow fuses or god forbid catch on fire while I'm out there.

I'm trying to keep it simple as I'm leaving tomorrow and am hoping this will not cause problems.

Anybody have any experience with this on a 690? Thanks for any advice!

General Maintenance / AFTERMARKET FUEL PUMP?

Anybody know anything about Quantum fuel systems?

http://www.highflowfuel.com/i-23899048-new-intank-efi-fuel-pump-ktm-690-enduro-r-2008-2016.html?gclid=CJn69oC8ks4CFUJqfgode_MDEg

Just bought a 2010 with 3400 miles. Fuel pump went out the day before my trip to the COBDR. KTM wants $360 and for the pump and 5 days to ship it.
I googled and found an aftermarket pump for $70, overnight shipping available. They have a lifetime, free replacement - warranty.  They say it exceeds OEM parts.

anybody know of them? thanks for any info.

Racks & Luggage / Re: New 690 owner looking for pannier system
« on: July 16, 2016, 07:31:00 pm »
I just picked up a 2010 and decided on Giant Loop luggage.

Less expensive. Easy on. Easy off. Holds it all. Much lighter.

Something to consider.

Sweet Mods and Accessories / Re: Bar risers
« on: July 06, 2016, 04:34:34 pm »
Can anyone else confirm that 2" risers will fit with out issue? I read a review on revzilla that stated the 2" risers stretched the cables to the max, uncomfortably so. But not sure if he had rerouted anything.

Thanks!

For Sale / Wanted / Re: LOWER CRASH BAR WANTED
« on: June 08, 2016, 06:22:01 pm »
thanks for the tips.

found some banged up crash bars on ADV that should get me through my trip. And have also ordered the flatland racing plate.
thinking a Giant Loop coyote or great basin bag will save me some weight and hassle.

i don't see a lot of crash bars on KTMs for some reason. But being a dirt noob, figured I would need them.

Touratech part number is,  370-1530

open to suggestions of other brands or bars that work for you.

just picked up a 2010 and am realizing the parts are as hard to come by as the bikes. they are on backorder everywhere it seems and i am trying to hit the road in a few weeks.

thanks!
