Hey guys, just got back from riding my 690 to the North Pole where I fell down to my knees and begged the Universe for forgiveness. On a more serious note, I see 690 enduro bikes come up for sale around here that are a few years old (~ 2012) with very low mileage. Like not even fully broken-in basically (~ 3500km), they want an arm and a leg for them too! Is it better to buy new or one of these gently used for let's say 2/3 the new price? Thanks. I'm off, I am heading deep into the Peruvian amazon to visit my Shaman; He has an enduro too.

How do I check the compression from the engine? So I set it up level and I had to add 500mL + bringing it back up to the top of level of the window. Here's the kicker.. I had only gone 1500km! The bikes is running so nice when I ride it, but there is something seriously wrong with that much consumption. I think I need the compression test and maybe a leak down test done? Should I talk to KTM? What do you guys think?

Hey guys,

So I am still having problems with the oil consumption. I gave it an oil change and measured 1.7L of 10w60, it came right up to the top notch on the oil window. After another 1500km, I have to lean the bike way over to see it in the oil window. I think the next step is to top it up with 5 w40 semi synth. Ay recommendations ? I am at 6500km total.

Hey! Thanks for the response. I'm not bad at riding bikes, but understanding the workings isn't my strong point ;) (standard physicist, knows everything, can't do anything) so this is most likely a "seating" issue? And my best bet is to try some 5w40? Would that be a total oil change or a top up with that type of oil? Also, if I just kept topping it up with 10w60 will it eventual "seat"? Lol I obvs don't know what I'm talking about. Any help would be great, oh and I couldn't find that other post on here. Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm loving this bike! It's 2015 and I just went over the 5k km. I noticed the engine oil is down though. After my first service at 1000 when they changed it until now has been 4000 km. is this par for the course or is it burning too much oil?

Hey, Not sure if this is the right place for his question but someone might have the answer. I like to wear gloves and a hoody and jeans when riding. But at highway speeds a hoody just isn't going to do it. Is there any products that are a bare bones kind of thing yet protects decently, where I could wear a hoody over it?
