This was strange!
« on: October 15, 2014, 08:29:29 am »
Bit of a fan of shorty levers from my racing days, and I found a shorty clutch lever for the 690 r for a good price.
It arrived, I put it against the stocker and checked the profile...all good!  So I put it on.

One thing and another, I can't get out for a few weeks. But yesterday out I go. Bike runs Great! Except it starts to stall when I chop the throttle. Happens maybe half a dozen time. When I come back home  I google the problem and find a few other riders have made the change and had the same thing.

I changed back to the stocker, and rode today. Not a single stall and I tried to stall it big time.

Kinda strange.

With aftermarket levers there is usually a problem with the clutch sensor.  It can`t  work properly because of the missing knob and the Fi doesn't know "when" to switch between Fi-maps. There is a another "hidden"  idle map you cant see with TuneECU for the pushed clutch position, and then you release the clutch the Fi transitions from that to the normal ones.

Hi
There is a pin that operates thruogh the clutch lever bracket which operates a kill switch, si you can start the bike in gear when you stall. Might have something to do with your problem.

Good info guys, thanks. Here's my input:

I have put on a set of these (in orange of course...) back in late '14 right after purchase. They've worked great but....

They are adjustable, settings are 1 - 7 with 1 setting the lever closer to the bar and 7 being the farthest. If the setting is not on 6 or 7, I can't start the bike unless it's in neutral. So the levers are activation (or deactivating?) the kill switch when the setting is 6/7 but not when it's lower.

Disabling this kill switch with the clutch is on my list of things to do, just haven't made it a priority yet since I leave the setting on 6 usually.
