There is enough meat to re-tap to an M7. But let me tell you how much of a pain in the butt finding an M7 hex head bolt was. Fastenal didn't have anything, hardware stores had nothing - I came across McMaster & Carr (
http://www.mcmaster.com/)... $3 bolt plus another $8 or $9 for shipping!!! ugh. (I got 3 bolts!)
M8 was too big and the M7 is not a widely used size apparently, so not readily available.
Due to the design of the master cylinder (shape and contours), you can't simply drill all the way through and just use a nut and bolt. I managed to retap for the M7 bolt from McMaster-Carr. It's not stainless though :-( so far so good after running 2 days of hard trails in WV 2 weeks ago.
