Windshield Wanderings?
« on: March 21, 2014, 02:14:03 pm »
Most of the time the lack of a windshield does not bother me, however on the occasional upwind freeway blast at less than 30 degrees F, it can be quite brisk.

I've been looking at the options; here's what I see so far:

From ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FLY-SCREEN-NAKED-PUIG-KTM-690-SUPERMOTO-SM-C-07-13-dark-smoke-/181280651331?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2a352b3843

Kind of neat looking, for the SMC - looks like it would work $L72.70 whatever that is.

KTM Twins: http://www.ktmtwins.com/ktm-690-parts/ktm-690-enduro-parts?product_category=525

Reasonable price $64.99, a little more angular, but probably the front runner - there is a video on youtube that shows the install.

Tourtech: http://shop.touratech.com/windscreen-ktm-690-enduro-and-ktm-690-enduro-r-from-2012.html $94.40 Euro

One more from Australia - http://www.screensforbikes.com/shop/ktm/690-r-enduro/  - kind of a strange looking tall screen. Not sure on the price.

Anyone tried any of these or know of any others?

I've never had a wind screen, except a full fairing on a 860 Ducati.
I got the one on your KTMtwins link fro Munn's Racing in Waco (KTM of Texas) for $64.03 inc. tax & fright.  Had it next day.

I like it!

I installed the KTMtwins windshield; pictures below - also installed the Nelson-Riggs 'narrow' adventure tank bag.

It really doesn't add much height, but I do like the way it shrouds the instruments.

I like that windshield.  I'm gonna get one before too long.

So I bought one awhile ago when I was drunk... found it on my doorstep a couple days later, and was like, "Where'd this come from?" So I put it on and realized it don't help much with the wind deflection. It does help you see the instrument cluster better and It's pretty sick looking IMO.  :P
