I just finished doing up my '14 with Evo 2 tanks. So far enjoying the extra range!

I like mine too.  The furthest I've pushed them is 300 miles on my trip out at the Black Hills.  Normal range is 250 or so the way I ride around here.

The hardest thing for me is remembering to open the petcocks after fueling.

That looks great.  Sorry for the ridiculous auto-sesorship.  I've tried turning it off, or at least adding certain words, but no joy.

So for now, you're unable to share stories about your college girlfriend who loved to petcock.  ::)

EPMD, what is the procedure for refueling with these tanks? I'm looking into purchasing them for my 2014.  Why do you have to turn off the petcocks to the front tanks?

Thanks.

Not directed to me but I know the answer.

If you leave the petcocks open there will be fuel transfer between the three tanks.  This doesn't sound so bad but the fuel level in the front tanks is higher than the rear, which could cause the rear tank to flow fuel out of it's vent.  I'm not sure why after filling this problem doesn't continue, but it doesn't.  I'd guess it has to do with the size of the vent in the tank caps as compared to the size of the opening when the cap is off.  I say this because I have forgotten to open the petcocks on a trip and my low fuel light came on.  I continued to ride until I got to a town (I knew reserve could make it).  Once there I opened the petcocks but the level didn't seem to change after several minutes.  I pulled the caps off and after a few minutes I could see that the fuel was moving to the rear tank.

The only other issue you could have with this setup is just the opposite.  Fuel shooting out the vents of the front tanks.  This is caused by not paying attention when installing the seat.  There is a seat support very close to the rear fuel vent line.  If not positioned properly the seat can pinch this line.  This is easy enough to avoid but I did it once when I was in a hurry.

To date this is the best mod I've done to the bike.  I was really getting sick of the limited range.  I live far enough out of town that I could not make it two days back and forth to work on the stocker.  Fueling up daily was a pain, at least the girls at the gas station are nice!

Thanks SDMF.   I was worried about the tanks self-leveling while filling up.  I just order my tanks.  I ordered the natural color so I could easily see the fuel level.  However, they are back ordered.  I may even buy Rally Raids rear tank if they'll sell the tank without their rear rack.  I have the Nomadic Rack which is a lot sturdier.

Thanks again.
