2014 with "Wings" exhaust - answer up
« on: October 29, 2014, 12:59:41 pm »
OK you boys with the "WINGS" exhaust.....
I met a fellow 2014 690er this weekend and we rode the Hatfield McCoy trails in WV.  He has exact set up as I do --- except he has the Wings exhaust vs. the OEM on mine.   He had his fuel knob set to 'normal', mine set to 'hooligan'
His bike 'seemed to' pulled harder off the line and was snappier.  Butt dyno told me his was juuuust a little better than mine.    He did the 15 minute idle and nothing else (no remapping etc)

SO... my question to you Wings guys..... did you notice a jump in performance after you installed the Wings? Does it really make that much difference?  I pulled a 3rd gear wheelie on pavement with ease - not so on my stock setup.

My bike has exhaust envy now.   >:(

I had my eye on the Wings exhaust before seeing it this past weekend - glad I was able to see/hear/feel it in person before buying it.   I would be a very happy camper if it will give me that little more oomph that I felt on the other bike!!

Appreciate the feed back.

Sorry no Wings here but I do have the FMF Powercore on my 690 & am very happy with it. I noticed a small gain in power but a big improvement in how it sounds. Braaaappppp!!!! Love it.  Also, the Powercore wont melt your blinker off like some other cans.

I have a 2013 with a Wings exhaust and a 2014 with standard, don't notice any performance difference.   I fitted the Wings primarily because I was worried the standard can would melt my luggage roll.

The sound alone is worth the price of admission.  That stocker sounds like a sewing machine.  The Wings seems to breathe easier in the higher RPM range; when I first installed the Wings I banged off the limiter a couple times without meaning to.

I don't know that it's a lot more power, but it seems to rev quicker.  Also, the compression thump while decelerating is pure chocolate!
