Collapsed into the 690 wave function
« on: September 25, 2014, 10:12:00 pm »
Hey all,

Tried to find a klr back in June for a reasonable price, but just got fed up with these ass clowns wanting 5k for a 2009 model. I said to myself, I said, " self, there has to be something fun out there to ride that fits the dual purpose/ adventure realm". Just at that moment, it was like a time slowed down, a bike rocketed by me on the road. I spoke, once again to myself, I said, " self, what in tar nations was that!" I followed like a child molester in a van. As I turned the corner, I saw it, I felt like one of Stout Cortez men glaring out with wild surmise at the newly discovered Pacific Ocean. The klr 690 r. Obsession took over and led me,to this site. Howdy y'all. How can I get one of these by next spring? Thanks.

Buddy from Texas was riding along on an 1,800 mile trip here in MT and broke his KTM 525.  Been looking for a 690 and found a new one (2014) close (17 miles) from our home base. Bought it and rejoined the ride 1 day later.

Made the mistake of trying it out. (Riding a well set up KLR).  Big mistake.  Move forward a month or so.  Local dealer had a 2012 on consignment -  bought it.  Son claimed it....Next week...same dealer had another 690, a 2010 with 1,600 miles...I bought it...No one else is going to get it!!!

They are not easy to come by and I had the pleasure of buying two in one week.

(PS..Got a well set up KLR if your still looking.)

Last time I checked, Berts Mega Mall had 8+ 2014's and Chapparell has one on their floor. Both are in SoCal, not sure if that helps. I just purchased one and could not be happier. The bike is what ever you want it to be. My first three rides were a jaunt up to Big Bear (2 lane mountain road, all asphalt), a day of local commuting/errand running, and then a blast up the fire roads below Mt. Baldy. Bike handled it all and I look forward to seeing what else I can do with it.

Also, with the 2015's banging on the door, it's a good time to grab a '14 as there doesn't seem to be significant changes. Good luck!
