I installed the smaller DB buster because I live in a down town area, works great only loud when I'm throttling out in the country.
Needed to remap after I installed the K&N filter. Runs great now, last mileage check 59.5 mpg.

Nice looking job on the jack stand! The skid plate is the standard KTM parts catalog they gave me $500 Ktm dollars for accessories if I bought the bike by the end of the year. So I got a bunch of goodies.

Coursegold if your looking for black try these www.carbonadi.com I've got some coming should be in this week!
I'll show pix when I get them seems to have more coverage, plus has a Kevlar layer under the carbon fiber. Kind of pricey but still less than that clutch cover.

Installed the Rox risers with the built in rubber dampers, made a world of difference. Can actually use the rear view mirrors now!

Sprockets and Chains / Re: Switch to 48 tooth rear sprocket

I've been reading that the 48 drops the speed in first gear at 1k rpm from 5mph to 4mph something i would be interested in also, i feel it would help in the tight stuff. i thought i might gain enough slack after a couple of chain adjustments?
i'm interested to hear how it works out.

Sweet Mods and Accessories / save the side cover
« on: April 11, 2014, 01:35:16 pm »
since Rusty's story of side cover damage i've noticed some grooves worn into my clutch cover, turns out the brake foot pedal is real sharp on the edges. so i bent the rear ears over and sanded them smooth.

the ears are formed to match the cover profile, so when they do engage the force is dispersed and wont cut into the magnesium cover

So until i can get some side cover guards, this is a quick cheap insurance policy

oh ya can lift up the front wheel too

all in all pretty easy to use, comes with a velcro stap to hold front brake on when lifting rear

It sure would help if I could shrink it in the dryer about ten percent. I haven't had any contact issues, with the 1" link out in the Oregon high desert, but then again I'm a light weight!

I did mine with a Kouba link and dropped the forks in the triple clamps 3/4" worked out great. I reset the sag on the rear shock after installing the Kouba link

General Maintenance / Re: Tank subframe bolts
« on: March 30, 2014, 07:26:19 am »
Did the Peruns new tank bolts this week, nice looking product and fit nice, bushings fit with a slip fit. I changed the top bolts first, one at a time.  Added a little blue locktite. Then propped up the tank with a piece of plywood on my rear tire to change the bottom bolt. Hardest part is removing the air box !
P.S. Didn't find much wear after two years and several rallies, but I had my Gila tank rack on all this time so I'm surmising the rack was doing its job as an additional support member. I plan to do the ODCDR this summer and feel much more confident with the perun bolts done. Now some case covers on the short list.
