I'm glad it was something easy.

I did that to myself once on the 1190.  But never would have come up with that as a solution for you.

I just saw your post.  Did you ever get this figured out?

I'm guessing sidestand switch or possibly the leads to the injector.

Here you go.  http://www.timesert.com

Edit: You should probably replace your torque wrench or use one if you weren't.

Your '16 should be the same as my '14.  I removed several things... If I remember correctly it is in the instructions to fit the Rally Raid evo tanks.  Download them and take a look.

Hi,

Recently I forgot to turn my GPS off and drained the battery.  I used a jump pack to start it.  One of those little Li-Ion jobs... once started you have to remove it or the voltage from the charging system will kill it.  Once I unplugged it the bike would start running rough and the FI light would be illuminated.

I charged the battery and got the bike started.  It has been fine ever since.

My experience leads me to believe that you may have a bad cell in you battery.  It will still read full voltage but when a load is placed on it the battery doesn't have enough storage (amp hours?) to keep up.

I would take the battery somewhere that it can be load banked.  It will probably turn up that the battery is bad.

What Broke? / Re: Starting a stalled bike in gear

Interesting...

Mine has never started in gear.  I never thought anything of it and figured it was designed that way.  I'll have to fix it now that I know.

Thanks guys.

Sweet Mods and Accessories / Re: Manual Cam Chain tensioner?

I did it.

Is it necessary, probably not.  It did make the bike slightly quieter but the aluminum skid plate made it much louder anyway.

Also it seems difficult to set properly.  I installed it while I did a valve check so I could visually check it.  Then after starting the bike up I re adjusted it.  The sound difference is slight, to me anyway, from loose to correctly tensioned.

Hi,

Just happened to log in here today.  Kinda surprised that it would over heat.  I would have thought it would be running rich in that situation.  I guess the bike is smart enough to lean itself out to compensate?

Glad you figured it out.  I get jealous when I see you ride by and I had to drive.  Planning on riding tomorrow though!

Tires / Re: Rim locks - to be or not to be?
« on: January 27, 2016, 10:47:16 pm »
I'm currently running D908 rally raids on my bike.  I love 'em.  But the rear is so hard to change with road side tools that I'll run without the rim lock.  It's really up to you are you going to ride off road a lot?  Low pressures often?  If not I'd skip it.  You know this bike has enough power to tear a valve stem.  I haven't experienced it yet but I only go down to 15 psi or so.  I've decided the 908 on the rear will get me far enough if I have a flat to get it fixed.

If I were doing a trip to Alaska or South America I'd consider it.  But the trade of really is mounting the tire in the middle of nowhere.  I'd rather carry a spare tube and run higher pressure after I killed one.

I have rimlocks on my KLR (go ahead laugh) and they made tire changes harder.  Still not at hard as the 908 on this thing.

Something to consider.  I'd sure try and change your tires with the tools you'll have on the road before adding something that'll make it harder.

If you like reading ride reports check out rtw with Noah on advrider.  He rode around for 2 or 3 years and posted about everything including breakdowns. If I remember correctly his first post may be a synopsis of his adventure including the information you are looking for.

It's worth a read either way.

Thanks Shake,

I haven't seen this part before.  I too find the false neutrals more often than I feel I should. Mostly between 5 and 6 but less occasionally between 4 and 5. It is only under hard acceleration (which is pretty much all the time) that I find them.  I got a hammerhead lever and that seemed to help but I also became more deliberate with my technique.  Sometimes I still get sloppy (try to shift too fast) and still miss a gear.

I'm glad you found this and it seems to have fixed the issue. I'll definately get one for myself.

Thanks again

I thought it was time to hear the story straight from the horses mouth, so I sent a message to Tubliss.

I suggested they post a response here, but also offered to post it for them.

I'll keep you guys up to date.

the molder left some extra material around the inside edge of the airbox opening.  If you trim it back with a razor blade it will usually fix your problem.

I think what happens is the filter gets pushed in by this extra material.  This pressure bulges the seating area of the filter just enough to let a little dust in.

I remember Noah saying something about this.  Seems like it was a dirty connection.  I could be wrong though.  I remember it sounded like an easy fix though.
