I wouldn't worry about it until such time as you want or need to change the filter or fuel pump.  I don't see it hurting at all.

If it bothers you, run the tank down to about empty and then drop the plate with 4 bolts on the bottom of the tank - you should find it them.

I put the parts package together based on the OEM parts schematic prior to getting the bike.  I had a couple of months to wait for delivery.  Waiting would have saved me $40, damn......

I still cannot for the life of me understand why the silencer hanger was the part/parts KTM decided to change over the MY.  I would have appreciated a new and improved air box or fueling system, just sayin'.  KTM could have solved those two problems for a few bucks a bike, cost me $350 for a Rottweiler intake and $150 for a new gas filler and cap package.

KTM has the premier light dual sport bike and they manage the marketing like Honda does the XR650L.  I don't think the 690 is quite on the same point of the product life cycle as the BRP.

Update to my original post:

I put the Rottweiler intake on both of our bikes a couple of months ago.  It was a pretty straightforward install.  The kit includes good instructions and there is a video on youtube.

We've done two weeks in the desert of northern Nevada since install.  I used two layers of filter skins on that trip and switched them out every two or three days, next trip I'd leave the bottom layer on for two of three changes of the top layer of cloth.  When I got home and cleaned the main Rottweiler filter, much less material came out of the filter than I expected and zero dust got through into the throttle body and silicone downtube.  I was VERY happy with the performance - plus I really like the sound when you go WOT!

I got the Rottweiler systems due to the leaking OEM airboxes and wanting to use (easily) filterskins.  We have the Safari tank on our bikes which really limits the access to the OEM filter.  If I didn't have the Safari, I'd also think about the UNI filter - prefilter setup from UNI Australia - really nice folks.(google it).  This setup gets you a new lid to the OEM airbox with a foam prefilter that is designed to have a filterskin over the top.  The UNI is cheaper than the Rottweiler, but the Rottweiler leaves you a place for a glovebox under the seat!

I've come to believe, based on experience,  I will fall from time to time in mud, water crossings, slow, tight rocky conditions or hit the rear bags on rocks in tight areas. 

I use the Giant Loop Coyote, tank bag and two smaller tank bags that strap to the front of my Safari tank and then back over the top of the Safari.  The soft Giant Loop bags have come through slow crashes well and protected the bike from damage.  I pack the crush prone items towards the upper-interior of the bag and have soft items on the sides to absorb shock.

I'm pretty sure I would have ripped off and then beat up hard sided luggage pretty bad by now.  I guess it depends on where you are riding, how salty you are at the controls and do you feel lucky?

I'm really afraid of getting my ankle beat up by catching on a hard corner of hard luggage in a fall.  This seems to be a frequent problem with guys going down with hard sided luggage.

Running 2 to 2.2 liters works just fine.  Does not spit oil out the air cleaner.

More oil is better than less oil.

I still change every 600 miles + or -.

I didn't add the PCV with the Rottweiler install, but I did add a Rottweiller Fueling dongle(sold for the v-twins).  My bike has an FMF silencer, Dealer installed reflash for the aftermarket silencer and filter.

Seems to pull harder from down low and midrange.  I don't notice any material increase in intake noise.  Bike runs perfect!

The filterskin prefilter is going to be so cool on 10-day trips into the dusty world.  I'm trying two filterskins on top of the Rottweiler right now.  This way I pull one off every day or two and keep the main foam filter fresh.

I had ordered the new AUS Uni prefilter that includes a new lid for the airbox with a rectangular metal frame and foam filter.  That would have worked very well, but I have a Safari tank and didn't like the fit.

Just a word on Kolpin -

I once had to order replacement caps and gaskets for four of the red tanks and the kolpin people in customer service were very nice to work with - the kind of folks you remember and remember to buy Kolpin in the future.
