Introductions / Re: Moving from Denver to Texas

Hey Ken,

I'm in the opposite situation--I moved from swampy Houston to glorious Utah.  Hill country has some good rides.  Check out Uncles Big Bend Adventure ride...it's the most fun I had on my bike in Texas.

I've dumped mine several times without radiator damage.  I've had to replace my clutch cover (which is armored now).  I guess I've been lucky with the radiator.

Welcome to the forum and to the best dual sport on the planet.

I don't have issues with the handlebar vibes.  You may want to upgrade the seat.  If you do a lot of slab riding you may want a little windscreen.  If you plan on a lot of tarmac, you may want less agressive tires.

The only thing the bike *needs* IMHO, is a new pipe.  The stocker is heavy, hot, and plugs up the 690's performance.  I suggest a Wings exhaust--they're totally easy to install and don't require a computer degree to tune.

Very nice and clean!  You need to invest in a Wings pipe, it really wakes the bike up (and looks awesome).

Anyway, welcome to the forum and to the most versitile motorcycle in the world.

Ah, Iceland, my ancestral home Grandma was always on about.

Now I live in Houston, which is as unlike Iceland as a place could possibly be.

Welcome to the forum!  I hope you enjoy it and find it useful.  Please post some pics of your Iceland adventures, I'm sure we'd all like to see them.

Other than basic maintenance, I've found that everything else you do to this bike is an option.  Upgrades really depend on how you are using the bike, enduro, adventure, commuting, etc.  Get your suspension and controls setup for you.  A more comfortable seat would be good.  The KTM comfort seat or Seat Concepts seem to be the most affordable options.  If you ride at night, the Cyclops Adventure Sports LED head light-bulb conversion works well and is not expensive.  The Wings muffler is nice if you want less weight, sweeter sound, and less chance of burning yourself on cat-equipped stocker.

+1 spot-on!

The Wings exhaust really wakes the bike up and sounds awesome.  I added supplementary lights, but the Cyclops looks like a simpler solution to the same problem.  I use an AirHawk pad for longer rides.

After that, It just depends how you want to use the bike.  The 690 really is a jack of all trades.

That's a great deal.  Congrats to you both!

This site is growing internationally.  Let's be supportive of those who boldy participate despite having a language barrier.

By the way, "google translate" sucks.

It sounds like a great event and worthy cause.  I wish Houston wasn't so far from...everything!

That's awesome!  My son likes my bike so much, he saved up enough to buy a KX140L.  I love riding with him and we both want to ride the TAT someday.
