Looking to see if this will fit my 16 enduro. I sent an email to Corbin. I have a seat concepts that the rear pin broke off. I didn't like that seat it was too soft for me.

So what's every1's fav rubber for the dirt? I've tried the following...And just my opinions here....

Dunlop d606 front makes a good plant pot stand. Rear lasts ok but squat grip.

Pirelli mt 18 rear only. Not bad. Not available anymore.

Dunlop 752 rear only. Again not bad...not great but an ok all around tire.

Mich desert. Tried both front and rear. Tough but little grip.

Kinds Parker dt. Tough for desert racing, swapped from the mich to these and found them tough and far grippier.

Mich ac10 only used these on the back on the exc, good grip but I chopped them out fast. Won't put them on the 690 as they'd be toast. Unless it's for a 24 hr enduro.

Metz mc5 good both back and front.

Bridgestone battle cross front. In a word, awesome! I have this on the front (again), and have a mich m-12 to try on the back.

I run tubliss as well to cut the unsprung lbs.
You are running Tubliss? I thought that system was not wide enough for the 690 rim widths? I have an 18 and 21 I could install on my dirt only wheels.

Story-Time / Re: 1st Inaugural 690 Enduro Forum Rally!
« on: June 29, 2016, 07:33:30 pm »
Don't be mad.  >:(

This was originally billed as a simple ride, not a rally.  I had no idea it would become so awesome.  I even made tee shirts!

Gary (DrBlackbird) originally wanted to show me a riding spot in Arkansas, but weather didn't permit, so we changed to Big Bend, Texas (the only place in the nation not hit by the polar express).  I could not have been happier; I love the desert.

As fitting an inaugural event, attendance was small:

left to right:
Ray (CrazyRay) 690 Enduro R
Me, Rusty (RustyShovel) 690 Enduro R
Dane (Dane1960) 690 Enduro R
Gary (DrBlackbird) 690 Enduro R
Pat (TenFootGlass) 530EXC
Alex (??) KLR (not in picture)
Steve (??) KLR (not in picture)

Most of us trailered from Houston.  Gary has a deluxe trailer!

We stayed in super-deluxe accommodations!

Notice Gary's fire pit.  A great place to relax and tell lies at the end of the day.  Gary also introduced what will become a 690 Rally tradition, nightly fire-cooked sausage and mustard.

We rode hard both days:

The EXC needed a bit of trail attention and Steve's KLR was DOA on day 2.

We climbed mountains.  Here I am at 4326 feet.  The 690 is a mighty climber!  **Looking at maps of the area, it doesn't seem that my GPS could possibly have been correct about the altitude.

None of us were sure where we were at this point.  I were not technically lost, since we still had water, fuel, and daylight.  We found our way eventually.

At the end of the day, we'd head to the Terlinqua Ghost Town for food.

The Starlight Theatre/Restaurant had sweet steaks and cool live music.

I didn't want it to end.  I can't wait for next year's rally.

BTW, I'm still waiting for tons of pics from the other riders; I'll update as the pictures become available.
Was La Kiva still there? I love that place. I spent two nights there a few years back.

I guess the 16 doesn't have as much smog crap on it due to the dual spark plugs. I guess they try to burn off some of the pollutants.  I was thinking about removing the canister, but haven't looking into what else I can remove. Anyone do it on a 16?

I only trailer the race bike to races and rides. The 690 is my commuter/ weekend adv bike. I've only had it for two months now, but already got one 800 mile weekend in. I use a GL Great Basin bag to pack all my camp gear and I also run a 15L dry bag on my tail rack. The set up worked great. I will be doing two more extended weekend trips over the next three months. I think we are taking our dual sports out to CO this year instead of the dirt bikes. So that will be nice to have the big thumper and FI.
My long rides are mainly farm roads and forest roads.

Sweet Mods and Accessories / Re: Gas tank inlet filter?
« on: June 10, 2016, 10:56:17 am »
I have the CJDESIGNS with the sock filter on the Filler cap. Works good, much better than stock, but with the sock type filter it takes a little while to fill the tank

I have been using one for years now. You can only cut a tire once or twice and then the knob is too weak and they start ripping off. I have found that cutting a small layer off the top helps give all four side a sharper edge.

Introductions / Re: Picked her yesterday
« on: May 23, 2016, 07:21:49 am »
Here in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Just got my first 690 Enduro R. Had a nice 30 mile ride home from the dealer in the pouring rain, luckily my aerostitch did the trick and keep me nice and dry. 2016 bone stock, I definitely can tell she is all corked up. A 690 should have alot more pull than she does. I guess I need to start with removing smog, air filter and exhaust. Glad to join the club.

congrats!

i thought the exact same thing when i first rode mine... change the setting under the seat to #2.  the wings exhaust helps also, but the #2 setting makes the biggest difference
Did the switch and that helped a lot. Runs much better. Looking at a foam filter next.

Yes, switched to 2 and running much better. Had to do the 15 min idle adjust. Next will be foam filter.
