Title: Does a 2017 need the beefier tank bolts?
Post by: Little Bike on January 31, 2017, 10:32:25 pm
Hi,
New 690 owner, impatiently waiting for delivery :)

I'm going to be setting the bike up for off road touring, before I get too far into racks and gas tanks I'm confused as to whether the weak tank bolt problem was solved for the newer bikes.

Should I replace the bolts and add the Rally Raid reinforcer on a 2017?

Thanks

Not sure, but I would do it anyway!
My I suggest these vs. the rally raid.    https://www.perunmoto.com/collections/ktm-690-enduro-enduro-r/products/ktm-690-subframe-tank-reinforcement-kit?variant=685606403
Great guy to deal with and has a few other goodies for the the 690's!   I have the enduro luggage rack, heel guards and the tank bolts - all top notch stuff

I just replaced them on my 2017. Comparing the stock bolts of my bike to earlier years and they look identical. Not saying they are just as weak but they don't appear to be built any differently. I'd replace them just to be safe.

Also, I agree with truck11. I bought mine from Perun Moto. They're a great product and were awesome to deal with. They also have awesome step by step instructions on their website!
