Title: 2014 front turn signal mounts
Post by: Skipster229 on February 24, 2016, 03:42:42 pm
Anybody know why some 690's have a bracket that mounts the front turn signals directly below the hand guards and why some come mounted to the headlight mask?  hmmmm
My 2008 had the turn signals mounted on the headlight mask.  My 2014 has the metal bracket.  I see pics of 2014's with the front turn signals using either or.

So, that's what those holes in the side of the headlight mask are for.  The only reason, I guess, for the change is maybe the arrow shaped lights are heavier and stick out further than the round lights. So the plastic of the headlight mask won't hold up to the flexing of off road use/crashing.

My '13 has the flex arrow type mounted to the mask with no problems.

Hey fellas, thanks for the input!  Yeah, the turn signals mount just fine on the headlight mask or using the bracket.  Was just curious why KTM delivers different configs within the same model year.  I like them better on the headlight mask so I removed the bracket from my 2014 690 and mounted them on the headlight mask.  To me they just seem a bit more out of the way mounted on the mask and now no metal bracket to bend if we go down.  See ya!

Just looking at the pictures - are these bikes from the same show?    Notice one bike (i think the mask mounted one) is more street oriented tires - vs. bracket mounted with the MT-21 knobbies.    Could it be they mounted the brackets to the 'dirt' oriented version as the mask mounted ones are more prone to breaking?  (from vibration etc?)
Just an observation......

Pictures are with a Euro and USA version of the 690's. I'd suspect the US requires a wider spacing of the front signals and therefore the metal bracket.
