Title: Rigid Light and GPS
Post by: Rsquared on October 12, 2014, 08:48:27 pm
Since my 690 will be taking the place of my 450 as my Dual Sport ride, I pulled my Rigid light and GPS off the 450 and installed them on my 690. Also sprang for a new Wolfman tank bag…

The light is a 10" Rigid SR Series Combo. It's only 36 watts, so about 3 amps draw, alot of light for such a small current draw. http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/91031
I recently decided to try it mounted lower, so I fabed up another bracket that bolts up to the lower triple clamp..

How do you like it down there?

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing for a few months now.

I mounted a 6 led string similar to Roger's although I mounted it directly to the fender. I filled the "V" with hot glue plastic so it provided a solid mount.  I picked up a pair of the lights for $31 on Ebay.  Works well, but does block some of the headlight to the ground to the sides of the wheel.  No big deal.  Advertised as 1770 Lumens - 18 watts. 30 degree beam width.  20 would probably be better, but definitely adds to the visibility and night lighting.

I do like the lights mounted lower, alot better than up high like I first had them. The lower position is less distracting in your field of view as you ride.

Ron, your light looks good. If there's another Montana 1000 next year, I plan on checking it out in person...

Roger.  So far no planning for next years Montana 1000 other than setting the third Saturday in July as the start date. Last years 1800 miles (long version) was really epic in nature.  I'm looking forward to putting the new 690 through it paces next summer.
