Anyone use the Doubletake mirrors? http://www.doubletakemirror.com
Do the stock 2014 690 mirrors fold? I need to put the bike under a cover as it will sit outside in my parking space - so folding mirrors might be needed for cover to fit.
Also folded when off roading.
There goes another $100.......

I have used the DoubleTake mirrors, they are expensive and well made but are not perfect. They are surprisingly heavy (quality glass mirror), don't always stay in place, and for me sometimes can't be angled enough forward to not hit my forearm when standing.
I may try the KTM folding mirrors next.

I had a set on my last bike and loved them. They're my next purchase. They've got to be an improvement over the stockers!
-
I have them on my 525 since it did come with any mirrors - I like them on that bike, but so far the stock mirrors seem pretty good on the 14 690 - they are kind of high and goofy looking, but you can see over your arms with them.
-
I'm not discounting the stock mirrors, just that I need to be able to throw a cover on the bike as it sits outside :-( so I need to fold the 'Antennas' down!
My last set of folding mirrors SUCKED - these DoubleTake ones are a little more, ok a lot more, expensive, but seem to be a lot better in many ways.

They are so much better than those damn stock mirrors. Once a stock mirror takes a decent hit, it buzzes and sounds like crap. Drop the $$$ and get a pair.

I saw mirrors that looked like these on the Dr. Enduro website like for 20 bucks each. follow the link

The $20 mirrors are fine if they are just there to pass the requirement for mirrors, but they are no way as good as the double-take mirrors.

+1
Those mirrors are a complete fail as far as seeing anything as are the other lightweight plastic folding type that look similar.

I have one of these that I use every so often http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Equipment/adjustable_mirror1.htm - mainly for offroading so I can still see riding buddies behind me without having an antenna mirror sticking up waiting for a branch to whack it!
I got it from a friend who had 2 and used them as his only mirrors - they work, but not great. You basically look under your arm (have to move your elbow up a little to see behind you.
They work and would choose these over the crappy Dr Enduro ones.

I just installed a pair on my bike, and after riding to work today, they are world's better than the stockers. They vibrate a hair less, although at lower engine revs they flop around in a slow vibration. The adjustment took me a bit more effort than stock, but isn't annoying. I'm going to go ahead and venture that they will hold up much better than stock for offroad expeditions as well. I also like the larger viewing area, even though I'm not big on the Mickey Mouse look.
My right side stock mirror took a small bump in Colorado and won't stay in one spot more than a city block now. They are a bit more than I would've liked to pay, but I don't regret buying them.

Highway Dirt Bike guards with fold in mirrors.... awesome and tough ! (https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10516835_10202911874777412_1273609221521227755_n.jpg?oh=3ef5eb6a36861aaa14c77c6b971aff07&oe=545ED56F&__gda__=1417454978_64dd40398fa2367c2db47e5143674bbd)

I'm using the Touratech foldy-uppy mirrors and I'm happy with them. Can't say they're any better because I don't know. But they do have this really cool looking ratcheted knee-joint along the stems that looks very techie. A dramatic increase in visibility over the stock mirrors that should be burned at the stake. I think the knee-joint mirrors and my matt black German WWII helmet delivers just the right flavor of intimidation I require. I realize your mileage may vary.

I have the OEM on and have the buzzing issue. I will get these and give it a shot: http://www.doubletakemirror.com/

OK, On the first bike I put these on I really hesitated due to the price. My wife and I just got 690's and I ordered them for both bikes. We use them on our Husky 511 and 310 as well. Don't have to worry about breaking them and I don't really have a problem with vibration. Good product and good service from the company. But ouch!!! - there are too many $100 upgrades for these bikes......whip me, beat me, make me write bad checks!
-
Agreed. It not nearly as bad as owning a boat though! :o

Well, I know my wife and I have had some interesting discussions regarding the Am Ex bill and farkle recently......I am truly blessed, she wanted to get the Safari Tanks and Giant Loop bags front and back that are coming on the next bill.....she wanted double-take mirrors too!
My advise to all you 2-stroke, snot-nosed, whipper-snappers out there after my 38 years of blissful marriage.....grab a gal who likes to do what you like to do - and - you will "get to" enjoy life much more.
-
I have the short stem ones. The longer ones are a bit better for street.

Good mirrors but need to be folded in while off road.
