screws?
« on: September 02, 2014, 11:11:29 am »
Does anyone know where to get replacement screw/bolts?   I have had to bike since March and already lost 2-3!!    Latest one is for the middle heat shield on the mid-pipe.  Don't want to lose the heat shield.......

Is there a 'kit' or something that has an assortment of nuts / bolts / screws etc?

Thanks
Julian

Ace Hardware has a good selection of metric nuts & bolts.

Yeah, Ace is good. Also, rocky mountain and other sites sell some metric nut and bolt kits as well. I lost the bolt frim the clamp that hold both heat shields to the frame around the header. Lol. I think it was an M8 1.25 threads and 15 or 20 mm long.

Never buy from ktm for bolts and screws, your just throwing money away. I remember someone once posting a pic of an Aprillia washer, the sort they would give you for free at a mom and dad hardware shop. The cost was $28!!! Wtf! And you paid for it! Idiot....

But anyways, euro bikes seem to be notorious for not be torqued up properly, so the rule is always, Run the Spanner Over the Bike straight away. And a bit of blue loctite or similar is a good idea, just not on plastic as it rots it very quickly.

+1 on Ace Hardware.  They have a great selection of metric nuts and bolts that are much higher quality than OE.

I recently stripped the clutch master cylinder handlebar mount  >:(    I ended up having to tap & thread next size up.... let me tell you how hard it is to find an M7 bolt!    Someone suggested McMaster-Carr  http://www.mcmaster.com/ - bing!  found what I needed and now back to hooliganism.
