Hello. New here
« on: May 14, 2015, 06:41:37 am »
hey all, coming off a 2014 1190 Adventure.  Great bike but i did not use it for its intended purpose and was a very expensive bike to just sit around and not get used much.

Just sold it and considering a 690 Enduro.

I guess i have the usual questions:

what price are people paying to buy?
any used ones in the long island New York area?
overall satisfaction?
is there a ton of highway vibration?

i would think i would be using this most to just tool around long island, maybe trailer out of the city area and blast around the berkshires/vt, etc.  maybe hit some fun fire roads.

Does the bike feel super light even when stationary?  the ADV bike felt like a ton of bricks when at a stand still, argh.

thanks in advance for any assistance in helping me figure out if this is the bike for me

welcome. I have a 2014 690 e ,It does vibrate, fasst flex bars are in my future.  it feels very light and nimble. It feels very stable at speed, makes you feel like you can't be going that fast , compared to other street legal dirtbikes.  Throw on some sumo wheels and your set. only downside is the seat and  height,  but that can be overcome.

Get brass bar ends to go with the flex bar. Works great!

Welcome to the forum and to the best dual sport on the planet.

I don't have issues with the handlebar vibes.  You may want to upgrade the seat.  If you do a lot of slab riding you may want a little windscreen.  If you plan on a lot of tarmac, you may want less agressive tires.

The only thing the bike *needs* IMHO, is a new pipe.  The stocker is heavy, hot, and plugs up the 690's performance.  I suggest a Wings exhaust--they're totally easy to install and don't require a computer degree to tune.

Exhaust is a must.  I have a 2014 690R and recently installed the wings muffler.  Great sound and service from Wings.  Ordered it on a Thursday morning and it showed up on my door step the next Monday afternoon.  That was from Germany were they are made. All in at $426
Good luck!
