Finally back on ADV!
« on: February 03, 2015, 10:38:32 am »
Hey all,

ADV banned me two years ago for starting this site and telling folks about it on ADV.

After a determined emailing campaign by myself and several members of this forum, THAT BAN HAS FINALLY BEEN LIFTED.

I would like to send a huge thanks to those of you who contacted ADV on my behalf.

I would also like to thank ADV for listening and welcoming me back to the asylum. 8)

There are some ADV haters out there.  Despite my grievance with being booted, I was never one of them.  ADV is a terrific source of info and I urge all members of this forum to join ADV as well.  I still feel that this forum is the single most useful (and user friendly) resource for owners of the 690Enduro (due to YOUR contributions, of course)....

...but ADV is an essential portal to the broader world of adventure motorcycling.

Again, my many thanks,

Rusty Shovel

They banned you! Wow that's pretty intense from my pov.

Funnily enough, I'm banned from there as well. In my case I was contacted by the computer crime division of the Australian police. They'd sprung a person from the east coast of australian who had been working very hard at identity theft of a few people. One being myself with a fair amount of info gathered from advrider.

I asked the moderators to unjoin me...and found out it couldn't be done!! Only thing they could do was ban me and block access to me profile. I had a couple of days sitting at the pc deleting pics and details and posts I'd put on.

I still read stuff, but haven't really felt the urge to rejoin. I think this forum satisfies my Ktm social media/information needs

In the Joe Mamma section of ADVrider, I made the mistake of taking a stance against the cartels in Mexico. I linked to a hidden camera in the AZ desert, filming highly armed nationals with night vision smuggling tons of drugs into America. I mentioned a rather violent way of dealing with them and that was all it took....Banned for life! Not 30 days or a slap on the wrist, but a full on life long ban.
Joe Mamma is basically the free for all section where everyone eventually turns into a donkey's rear end. More arguing and put downs than any othe forum I've ever seen. I had over 1500 posts and a lot in the mechanical sections for the 990 adventure plus ride reports.

I'm still banned 6+ years later. Pleading emails did nothing.  I still view it every day following my fav epic ride reports.
