Dumb question - tool kit?
« on: November 13, 2015, 02:54:24 pm »
Does a 2013 690 Enduro come with a stock tool kit?   I haven't found one on my bike, but I bought it used and the PO didn't include everything he took off the bike.

Thanks!

There isn't a place for the tool kit on the bike unless you make one. The factory toolkits were give with the briefcase which contained the owners manual and other swag. You can get a factory tool kit on-line.

OK, thanks, that makes sense now.   I didn't get a briefcase or tools or a manual.

Thanks guys!

It's not a dumb question at all as most bikes have & should a spot to store at least a very small tool kit. Obviously not the 690.. I suppose it would add another 2 lbs. to the bikes weight specs..?  I think it's important to have a kit though & usually throw mine in my back pack which comes with me pretty much everywhere. Bolts constantly come loose on off road bikes & a kit has saved me a long walk home several times. Whether you get a tank bag, fender bag or whatever bag, bring a tool kit in it.

That's why I put a wrench on every nut/bolt on the bike when I get it & then again after the first ride.  Also make it part of my yearly maintenance.

The Rally Raid tool box is actually one of the more affordable RR products. I put one on my 2015 690 R. It fit great and holds ALMOST everything in the tool kit. The two axle wrenches are too long to fit in the box. So, you still need to carry them somewhere. I ordered one of the Tool Tubes and mounted it behind the right side of the Tour Tech side racks. Works like a charm and gets the rest of the tools onboard.

That does not look like a $300 tool kit.. For $300 I would want Snap On tools & more of them! Honestly the stock kit is pretty good with a few extra bolts a rag & some small needle nose Vise Grips thrown in. If your going on a long ride add some tubes & tire spoons.

Motion Pro spoons are light & work well. Look on eBay you may find an OEM kit for your 690..
