My 2014 started to burn a little oil after its first oil change. I didn't use the 10w-60 weight oil that it came with from the factory. Instead I used 10w-50. Then took the bike on a long ride from So-Cal to Utah. At my third gas stop I checked the oil noticed that it was right at the low mark. I found a bike shop and refilled with 5w-40 semi-synthetic and it didn't burn oil for the rest of the trip. There is another post, somewhere on this forum about oil consumption, and the "poster" said he switched to a straight petroleum oil to help the rings seat and it seemed to take care of the problem, then switched back to synthetic or semi-synthetic at the next oil change.
It may be that some of our bikes need a longer run-in period to properly seat the rings. I chose the 5w-40 weight after reading the post about oil viscosity (on the cafe husky forum) and how the mfg's. choose oils for their vehicles.
