I had a problem related to this. When I took 690e in for its initial service and inspection, the rear brake spring wuz busted. They dug around and found one a little bit shorter, but while they were at it they did the recall replacement of the mounting bolt that is too short. 1000 miles later that little bit too short spring is still working just fine and I try not to get in too much of a hurry to replace that which has proven itself to work well. Morale of the story: I'd get the recall part replaced. Ain't a big deal, but it'll keep you from wearing out your rear brake pads too fast.
