Hey all,

Bartloni suggested this:

I've been thinking about suggesting to Rusty (our administrator / facilitator) that we consider setting up some kind of awards section on the blog, where we establish various categories and let everybody vote on it at the end of the year.  It would be a blast at Christmas to see which of our scroungy asses got various recognition.  Stuff like:  Most dedicated, most impressive duck-up, coolest mod, best hooligan, so forth and so on.  I think this would help strengthen our bond as members on this site as well as reward the truly cool with recognition.  What do you guys think?

So what do ya'll think?  I was thinking that once we decided on categories, we could scour the forum for nominations, then put the award to a general vote through a poll.

At this point we need to agree on categories.

I was thinking, perhaps:

Best Mod.
Best travelogue.
Best Photo
Best in show
Most helpful post.

I'm just spit-balling.  Once we've decided on the categories, we can start working on the nominations.

Groovy tunes man!  As we establish the categories, we must define the criteria that members should consider when they vote.  Since I proposed the idea, I don't want to poison the well by ranting about my ideas too much.  But I'll mention a couple:

Hooligan of the Year - Who is the one individual who has demonstrated the right stuff to take the overall crown.  This individual would be the one with the best overall score in each of the award categories we decide on.  Not necessarily the winner of any individual category.  We must keep it respectable.  We shouldn't  name someone who demonstrated the greatest propensity for criminal activity.  This is an honorary title given to the person most dedicated who puts forward our best face on the sport.  Theeeeeeere he iiiiiiiiiiiiis.  Mister Hoooooooligaaaaan.

Most impressive duck-up - who is that individual who went for the the glory and came up with the cheese, and then lived to confess to the brotherhood his mishap?

There's my 1.317 pesos.

Hey Rusty,

I like Bartlioni's idea.  On Club Frontier they had a truck of the month and truck of the year forum.  There they had a thread set up for nominations.  Once they had the nominations set (not sure how they decided how many nominations to take.) they would start another thread with a Poll.  I'm not sure if that feature is available here, but when you clicked on the thread you would be prompted to vote and then you could continue to read the thread.  Here is an example of a poll thread.  It seems like this would be a good way to do things.

I already would nominate Postbox for Best in Show!

Edit: I just spent two seconds looking around and I see Polls are available.  Disregard my post, except for the nomination haha!

Aw shux.  The nominations are the most important part.  And then let the ragging begin.

I formally nominate GSP (Greg) as chief propeller-head / gear head.  But wait a minute.  This isn't an award.  This is a rank and title.  Perhaps I get ahead of our selves.  We should focus on the award categories for now, and then decide on titles later.  We are on the cusp of achieving  zomzing great.   A bond of hooligans that can withstand the onslaught of happenstance, and potentially even survive a zombie apocalypse.  Naaaah.  But we can have fun.

We digress.  My fault.  Apologies.  So we're looking for award categories and scoring criteria.  Any other ideas?

Keep it civil.

And ugly is relative; as long as your brown eye likes it, it's beautiful.

Don't it make my brown eyes bluuuuuuuuue.  Now where were we?  Oh yes, awards awards and more awards.  How about one for Coolest Moderator of the year?  I shudder to think how I would have responded to that last post.  But Rusty stands a giant above the fray of mere hooligans as a beacon of light to remind us who we are and why we love this blog.  You are the Man Rusty!  I formally nominate Rusty for coolest moderator of the year.
