Effective - yes, or maybe. Either way it didn't cost anything except some time electrical tape and heat shrink tubing.
I did the mod. Tried the flattened paper clip "tool" to release the wire connector from the plug housing. One came out with some coaxing, while the other came apart.
This mod was part of a bike tear-down so I am not sure of the significance of the mod on its own. Part of the modifications included replacing a K&N cone filter with the stock air box (lower), a Uni and the Vented Evo1 tuning cover. SAS and Cannisterectomy were done as well. The bike already had a FMF 4.1 pipe but was missing the spark arrestor which is needed for my riding so it was added.
Lastly, but most importantly was the TuneECU mod. Previously, the bike had been remapped by a dealer for the pipe. However it would not even idle for the 15 minutes required for the "reset". Loaded the appropriate two maps and she purred like a kitten - not the one that got stuck in the radiator fan either. Also did the throttle calibration roll-on, roll-off.
First test run. Wheelie king. Smooth idle. No flame-outs. All is good.
Now for some additional risers - which to my angst will also need longer brake, clutch, and throttle cables.
