2012 690 ENDURO FMF Q4 SILENCER WON'T FIT MY 2014 690 ENDURO
« on: August 13, 2016, 01:55:37 pm »
I just purchased a 2014 690 Enduro R and tried to install the FMF Q4 silencer off my 2012 model and it won't fit.  The 14 model only has one mounting point versus two on the 12 model.  I checked the FMF website and they don't list the silencer beyond the 2013 model.  Has anyone tried to make the two bolt model work on the one bolt model?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - gmtcm

I ordered the OEM 2013 hanger and hardware.  The KTM 690 2013 hanger has two bolts for the FMF silencer and fits the 2014/2015 frame just fine.  Costs like $35 bucks to get all the OEM stuff including the hanger and hardware.  Just takes a few days to order it.

Very cool! - but darn....

I put the parts package together based on the OEM parts schematic prior to getting the bike.  I had a couple of months to wait for delivery.  Waiting would have saved me $40, damn......

RR

I still cannot for the life of me understand why the silencer hanger was the part/parts KTM decided to change over the MY.  I would have appreciated a new and improved air box or fueling system, just sayin'.  KTM could have solved those two problems for a few bucks a bike, cost me $350 for a Rottweiler intake and $150 for a new gas filler and cap package.

KTM has the premier light dual sport bike and they manage the marketing like Honda does the XR650L.  I don't think the 690 is quite on the same point of the product life cycle as the BRP.

I was able to get the 2012 FMF can on my 2014 model by just using the forward hole.  Thanks for all your help.
