MondoMoto mm10 light install
« on: April 21, 2014, 04:28:30 pm »
Hey all,

I just picked up a pair of these mm10 lights:

I intend to wire them to be activated by the high beam, but I'm not sure which color wire in the headlight harness is the switched high beam wire.  Do any of you know?  Thanks.

Unplug the wires at the light one at at time & see when the high beam goes away.

Hey all,

The Mondo's came in the mail yesterday:

Time to get these bad boys installed.
First, I get some angle brackets from my favorite adventure store, Home Depot.

Using a Dremel tool, I cut them to size and debut them.

That looks about right.

But I can't have 'em looking ghetto, so I paint them flat black.

I debated using the turn signal hole to mount my lights, but since there was plenty of room on the bracket, I just drilled a new hole.  I painted inside to hole with Rust-Oleum to keep rust down.

They're mounted and look nice, but now I gotta wire 'em.

This is the wiring loom that comes in the kit.  They intend for you to run cables to the battery.  I chose to install them to the ACC2 switch behind the headlight.

I want to run the lights so they come on with the high beams (I don't want to bother with a switch).  After some poking around, I determine that the blue wire is the high beam switched wire.

The wiring loom is way too long to fit behind the headlight, so I take some butt connectors and perform surgery.

Better.

It's not until I try to refit the headlight that the swearing begins.  I ended up zip tying most everything in the upper section of the headlight, behind the the turn signal wires.

Turn the key and away I go!

These are small lights, not 8" race lights, so manage your expectations.  They're bright little buggers though, and augment the high beam light by filling in all the dark space around the pencil thin high beam on the KTM.  I think I'm gonna like them.  So far so good.

I got them direct from Mondo Motos: http://mondomotos.com

The good news: They're only $130 for the PAIR!  The kit comes with mount, wiring harness, and quick splice (for the high beam wire).  You could also purchase a mountable switch, but I opted to stay with the high beam option.
