Adapt 2013 FMF 4.1 to mount on 2015 R
« on: January 04, 2015, 12:07:34 am »
Has anyone found the adapter parts to mount a 2013 FMF 4.1 or any 2013 FMF to a 2014/2015?

Thanks.

Update to my own post - sorry.

I thought there would need to be an aftermarket solution, but I looked at the 2013 and 2014 parts fiche online and it appears that stock parts can be used to do the conversion.

Looks like only the hanger changed from two bolts in pre-2014 to one bolt in 2014+.  The bad news is it looks like it takes about $75.00 USD in KTM parts to retrofit the hanger and hardware to mount the older silencer.

I put a Q4 on my '14 it had a mount for 2 bolts.  One of them lined up just fine so that is what I used.  The only thing you may have to do is go buy a shorter bolt.

Continued from above:  I went into the dealer today to order the 2013 hanger with two bolts to replace the 2015 hanger with one bolt.  Dealer looked it up and I ordered the parts to switchout the hangers with all the hardware for $35.  I got a Q4 to go on both of our new 690's.

The stock mount will work on FMF pipes but it only uses 1 of the tapped holes in the pipe's hanger. The Q4 is a good choice.. Attracts less attention. Some days I wish I would have got the quieter pipe too.. I will buy a quiet pipe when I grow up! LOL. Anyways, I have the Powercore 4 on my 14" & it sounds like music in all 6 gears. BBBRRAAAAPPP!! BBRAAAPPP!! BBBBRAAAAPPPPPP!!   BBBBRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nut up or shut up!

I'm not positive that my Q4 is that much quieter than yours...

I have an SPL meter we could give it a go this spring!

I have the Powercore on my Husky 511 - it does have a bite!  I like it too!
